507 intense hours in India, none more so than the first 120.
Welcome to the expedition

Since the focus is the journey & not the destination it is important that during the long hours on the road you are not so exhausted that you are not enjoying the journey. However the first 120hrs will be very intensive, since we have to make it into the heart of the Himalayas and out within a window of 4 days. From day 5 onwards we have the flexibility to take time out and rest.

Therefore within the first 120hrs, ensure you sleep/rest at every opportunity you get. On the plane make sure you grab the sleep-mask & I have ear plugs. Drink lots & make sure you eat. In the heat, food is the first thing you’ll stop, which compounds other symptoms. Our journey to Kalpa will be the most intensive as well as the most rewarding. So get hard & please look after your self during the first 120hrs as this is the most critical part of the exdtn. The goal is to complete Leg 1 in 4days min/5days max. kalpa is off the beaten track & totally intrepid, not what I wanted to start off with but well worth the effort.
